A complete renovation! We started with a dark cave of a shower with a built-in corner tub and toilet partition wall and evolved to an open, bright new space with a sweet pocket door. We also installed a larger window in so they could enjoy their beautiful backyard and all the light. This soothing pallet includes ceramic wood look tile on the floor, a white stamped ceramic wall tile, custom marble countertop and shower details, and mosaic stone for the shower floor and niches! I love all the soaking tubs I’m installing these days, and this one with that floor mounted tub filler is so elegant. Medicine cabinets? Check. Sconces? Check. I had a lot of fun styling this space, and my new favorite little thing is that matchstick dog. What’s a bathroom without matches? (Scroll to the bottom for before pictures)
There are so many beautiful changes in this house, I’ll just highlight my favorite parts. In the living room, we built out the big hole in the wall above the fireplace made for a deep television with some new shiplap, a chunky mantle, and some gorgeous black terracotta bricks. Simple window treatments and the perfectly calming new gray paint throughout the house give the owner the zen vibes she was after. We painted the oak on the stair risers white, the rail black, got that bitchin’ mirror, and a custom runner in my favorite pattern that I have dubbed “Are Those Animal Spots?”
We painted the kitchen cabinets, installed a new quartz countertop (cut deeper with space for a counter height bar), a new marble backsplash, mercury glass pendants, and some actually comfy and attractive counter chairs.
Oval tulip tables are my love language, especially white ones on vintage rugs with brown wooden chairs and custom window seat cushions. Yay for that hand knotted pendant light too! In the master bedroom, I’m most excited about the custom drapes and matching pillow, and my go-to ceiling fan, the … haha, I’m not going to tell you! What do you think this is?!
Oh the pink powder room! We wallpapered one wall, got a new mirror and vanity light, then painted the other walls a very pale blush. I love the continuation of the gray and white spots in the rug, and the artwork, which ties in with the runner right outside.
And all new furniture to boot! Lucky ladies all around.
Thanks Genene!
Fresh paint, floor tiles, a whole new vanity and countertop, mirror, lighting, hardware, and two snug marble shelves elevated this beautiful, shared kid’s bathroom in the fan. We removed an unnecessary door to one of the girl’s bedrooms to make room for the double vanity; It made more space in the bathroom as well as the bedroom. My client had a clear vision for what she wanted this bathroom to be and I helped with final selections and seeing the project through construction to the finish line. Did you know I project manage too?

We mixed vintage pieces from different chapters of my life with new vintage finds. Two painted second-hand mirrors, two faux concrete painted accent walls, a custom rug, and the creamy color palette makes this little hideaway a unique and calming bedroom.
Hand stenciled walls and a hand stamped valance in the kitchen, local artist made ceramic wall art, custom dining seat cushions, pillows, and drapery all make this sweet home a one-of-a-kind. Yellow, pink, blush, navy, deep green teal, cream, and gray is a new pallet for me, and I love it. Small gold accents throughout the kitchen, dining, and living room play a big roll in tying it all together. My work is a mixture of my taste with my clients’ and I’m always excited to see what new aesthetics we will create.
Most of the paintings in this home were painted by the homeowner herself. With just the right frames and positions on the wall we turned her new home into a gallery. We converted the screened porch to a full-time painting studio and hang out spot. We cut the large living area into two spaces, creating a more intimate and cultured lounge, as well as a family room perfect for movies, reading novels, and rolling around on the floor with the cat. The large dining table and funky mismatched chairs inspire dinner parties and sleepovers for the homeowner's two daughters. The collage in the kitchen makes breakfasters feel like they are at their own personal diner surrounded by happy memories.
The big changes to the bones of this kitchen were taking down the walls and doors between the kitchen, butler’s pantry, and dining room. We also replaced the existing windows with larger ones and added more windows between them, modernizing the space with a flood of natural light. The new extra long expanse of Quartz countertop is such a nice place for the client to catch some sun while she makes her pour over coffee in the morning at her functional, aesthetic, and custom coffee mug station. That sexy range hood paired with the matching Quartz backsplash and custom shelving is centered on it’s wall, directly across from a custom 48”x48” framed oil painting that ties the client’s color pallet together and brings serenity and happiness to her kitchen table. The vintage inspired black vinyl floor mat balances out the black hood and plays off the vintage-esque bronze light fixture.
Just because we're renting didn't mean we couldn't spiff the place up! We asked, and our landlord removed all the carpet in the house to reveal a beautiful wood floor, and she let me choose the paint colors. We filled the walls with art made by our friends and ourselves. Our furniture is all hand-me-downs, facebook marketplace, and craigslist finds. We reupholstered the dining chairs with some amazing green velvet I'd been hanging onto, got carpet tile samples, and finished it with a fun mish-mash of decor. All photos by @pmbphoto
Our client wanted a portico that looked like it was always there. We quickly came up with a design and worked with our contractor team to deliver before Xmas so she could hang lights up in time to celebrate! The curved ceiling detail painted in light gray gives this portico just the right amount of personality so it doesn’t stick out, but rather elevates the existing house entirely.
We turned this downtown Richmond tasting room into a cozy place to hang out with some budget friendly design ideas. One theme is “Reclaimed!” Reclaimed restaurant tables painted with chalkboard paint, a reclaimed church pew, and stacks of board games on top of barrels used to make the cider give second lives to large pieces that may have ended up in the trash. New large black velvet curtains help with the view of the bar as well as sound quality in the space, and the art nook helps Bryant’s highlight local artists and be a part of RVA First Fridays. I got to spray paint and stencil a punk/hand crafted cider themed wall, and I loved making the window display planters to match. If you’re in Richmond, try a flight to taste a few of the brews Bryant’s keep on tap. I recommend: Brite Good & Unicorn Fuel! Cheers!
Our design challenge: Create space for a group of 16 people to sit in a circle in the living room. The chairs and benches we used in the design of the adjacent dining room were chosen so they could be brought over when the occasional large group needed to meet. The extra long and deep sofa is the permanent centerpiece of this very social and cozy living room.
